As a full-time contractor, Teague beats his body into oblivion just about every day. He’s a man’s man, refusing to apply sunblock even if his scalp peels off, embracing the callouses on his hands and feet, and skipping out on most of the safety gear I harp on him to wear. I can’t say I blame him – I hate wearing safety gear too. Most of the time it gets in your way and makes the work harder. But I wear it anyway, because I have a vivid imagination and can envision tiny shards of wood flying out of the saw blade and embedding themselves in my retina. And who is going to help you pick splinters out of your eyeball when that happens? No one. They’ll all say “Should have worn safety goggles, you fool.”
So when Eric from FullPro offered to send us a pair of his SoundVision safety glasses, which are made to attach to earmuffs without getting in the way of them, I jumped at the chance to test them out. Because cool, well designed safety gear might actually get worn by the less paranoid Fixer-Upper resident.
Teague tested them out for the first time yesterday, and was pretty impressed. They look cooler than your average safety glasses (as you can see in the glamour shot above), so that was the first selling point. Instead of having plastic arms or an elastic band, they have velcro straps that attach to the outside of your earmuffs. The glasses come with 4 stick-on velcro patches so you can attach them to any earmuffs you currently own. They have a good close fit and are easy to get on and off. The velcro kept them on even after some pretty vigorous headshaking, and no arms means no break in the seal around your ears – so the earmuffs do their job much better. It’s a simple solution to an annoying problem.
If you’re looking for a more wearable pair of safety goggles to go with your earmuffs, check out FullPro’s website:
Thanks to Eric for letting us test them out!

Huh, what a good idea!
P.S. Darwin is just like that about sunscreen. I’m constantly yelling, “You’re going to get skin cancer!”
We love to hear from you, dear readers.
