The pink brigade

Teri from Charmed and Hammer brought to my attention their great little site, which specializes in women’s safety gear. If you’re into the pink lady look, you can get your work on in a pink hardhat, pink toolbelt, and pink safety glasses. Just visit their pink page. Personally, I’m digging these boots – but I’ll […]

For the locals

I work in Syracuse, NY, and lived in and around the city for a few years before we bought our house. It’s not the hippest or most prosperous city, but it has it’s charms. Walking around the University area is a favorite pastime of mine; it’s filled with beautiful historic homes. Many are owned by […]

Notes from the road

I’m checking in from a laptop in my parents’ RV in Saco, Maine. I’ve been here since Sunday, and am staying until Thursday when I leave for the AIGA conference in Boston. Any of you house bloggers going to be there? Teague is home working on the chimney, and I’m out here walking the beaches […]

Humbled and grateful

While watching tv last night, the reality of Katrina finally started to sink in for me. The complete and total devastation, the lives lost, the homes flattened……. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to lose everything, including your most cherished possessions and quite possibly your loved ones as well. To see your city […]

Previous life

Once again, spent nearly the entire weekend working on the house. Sure, there was plenty of blank-stare tv watching when we were too tired to lift a hammer, but by and large our free time was spent shopping for materials, talking about plans, and hammering away at on the kitchen exterior. In life B.H. (before […]

Team Mascot

We’ve got a new team mascot. He’s been cheering us on from his new home, on the tippy-top of the kitchen door frame. He’s very good at erratic, spastic jumping tricks that make me run from the room in horror, positive he’s landed in my hair. Ain’t he cute?

Odds n’ Ends

Another week has flown by…. we’ve been hopping from project to project, including Teague’s new business (which is really taking off!). I promised a photo of the newly repainted living room, so here’s a comparison shot – you can see how much louder the first color was: I like the new color much better, and […]

Garage sale time

This weekend, we’re holding our first garage sale since moving in. When my parents ran off in their RV, they left us with a bunch of new-to-us stuff. Their stuff was better than our stuff, so our stuff went away into storage. Now, it’s time to finally get rid of it, and I can’t wait. […]

Tired, but accomlished

This weekend felt LONG…… and not in a good way. Teague and I spent most of our free time wandering from project to project. But at least the weather cooperated. For the first time in weeks, it was actually enjoyable to be outdoors. I accomplished just about everything on my immediate to-do list, and also […]

Taking advantage of the long weekend?

Some of us (Teague) don’t get things like holiday weekends, but I work at a University where life is good, so I have Monday off. That means I have three whole days to work on house projects. (In between fireworks and grilled hamburgers, of course) Things I would like to accomplish this weekend: Get garage […]
